DCA to Accept Section 8 Applicants for Tenant-Based Housing Choice Voucher Program

Program Overview

Under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, eligible households can use vouchers to rent privately owned housing. The program is designed to ensure that housing costs (rent and utilities) do not exceed 30% of a household's income.

Application Process

On August 19th, a computer-randomized lottery will be conducted to select 1,000 applicants for placement on the Section 8 tenant-based Housing Choice Voucher waiting list. Applications will be accepted by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Division of Housing and Community Resources (DHCR).
